Proposition 8

Proposition 8 and what you should know that they don't tell you.
By: Thomas McEntire 11/20/2008

What is Proposition 8? First lets understand the history.  In the state of California back on the 15th of May, 2008, the California Supreme Court made a 4-3 decision that the state Constitution protects the "right to marry" and it extends equally to "same sex" couples.  Thanks for clearing that up but shouldn't you have consulted with the people of your state first? Citizens not only in California but across the US were outraged!  Proposition 8 is the voter initiative to over turn this ruling and to amend the state Constitution so it reads that traditional marriage is between a man and a woman. It took a petition with over 694,354 signatures in order to qualify this ballot initiative to be on the Presidential Election Ballot. The petition surpassed that with 1,120,801 total signatures. This way the people of California could let their voices be heard and thats exactly what happened.

The majority voted yes by 52.3% on Prop. 8 to amend the state Constitution to state that marriage is between a man and a woman.  This will annul approx. 18,000 same sex marriages performed during that time frame.  This fight for and against Prop. 8 raised over 75 million dollars! The fight for traditional family is in our own backyards and most people are not aware or don't care.
I have talked with many people and most people against gay marriage say "who cares"  and "it doesn't affect me".  All I have to say to that is "wake up people".  If you have values then protect them.  The Battle to preserve traditional family is here and future generations hang in the balance.
Gays main argument is their civil rights, however the institution of marriage has nothing to do with their civil rights.  The states look at marriage as an institution with which it gives benefits. It gives these benefits because the state wants these couple to propagate society.  These benefits come at a great cost to the state, such as tax breaks and upon death collecting a spouses social security check, etc. These benefits are special to a man and a woman who can reproduce and multiply.  This is not possible for gay couples without adopting or other non-natural means.  Not to mention the economic impact when these people start dying off and leave spouses to continue receiving these benefits. If you allow gays to receive these benefits then why not anybody? How about polygamists, cousins, brothers and sisters or maybe three women or three men or a man and his donkey? If it becomes law that love is the sole criteria for marriage then the entire institution becomes illogical.  I think this is another venture to make everyone equal by the left wing liberals and eliminate marriage altogether.

Gay marriage is like the beginning of a landslide, hurtling downward, getting bigger to crush Christianity.  They have already tried and succeeded in many areas in removing God from our schools and institutions.  People don't realize if you legalize Gay marriage, then this perversion will be taught in schools and that, it is the moral equivalent of traditional marriage. All text books will change to depict man and man, woman and woman, not only man and woman. Every TV show already forces it down our throats as if its what we want to see, solely to further their liberal agendas. Not only is the thought of homosexuals disturbing but the thought of thousands of motherless and fatherless children that these people will and have adopted are raising. Bringing up youth in an already immoral and sinful home can only lead to more children not being taught Christian values.  The family has been God's primary vehicle for spreading evangelism since the beginning.
Well it time for those who oppose gay marriage to awaken from their lethargy. To promote or to not oppose this immoral union would be to invite disaster. Not only economically, but also morally.
