I was only eleven years old when President Reagan came into office; he is the first President I really remember.  I feel it fitting that he passed the day before the 60th anniversary of D-Day because his generation is leaving this world and moving onto the next and with them I fear their principles and ethics and what it is to be American are going with them. It is not just sentiment; that is where Reagan was misunderstood by so many people. He was a man on a mission to bring back morals and respect to a demoralizing country, and the economy, who could fix it over night, maybe the American people could do it together, he knew that, he knew everyone had to do their fair share, he believed in a work ethic, a hard days work deserves it's rewards.  He wanted the states to play their rightful role in government, he understood the federal government was set up to deal with other issues and that for it to succeed the states needed to take care of their issues. I have so much respect for Ronald Reagan; freedom is what he believed in.  This country was founded on dreams, on hopes for a better way of life, where all people could be one in one nation and be free.  History can and will pick him apart as it always does, but as we read the books think about what you did, what did you do to help America.  He believed in his words, I believe in his words still. He was a throw back of the times and he represented his time well and what I'd give to raise my family in a world like the world he wanted and the world of the early 20th century from which he came.
