For Which It Stands

The Washington  D.C. Circus

What do you think of this circus in Washington D.C.?

How about Geithner getting in as treasury secretary even though he evaded taxes for several years? Harry Reid says it was only a "glitch" that he (Geithner) was still the most qualified. Can you imagine if a Bush appointee had that kind of background? Oh my, we'd still be hearing about it.

Also, there's our buddy Tom Daschle. How would you like to be him? He gets the nomination for HHS. As a result of the nomination the news comes out that he owes over six-figures in back taxes. (An honest mistake, yeah right) He pays his six-figure plus tax bill. Then he withdraws himself from consideration. If it wasn't for Obama nominating him he probably never would have paid those taxes. I love it.

Then there's the so called stimulus bill. OMGwhat a joke this is. Unfortunately, the joke is on us and future generations. One thing about Obama, he must not have done very well in history class. Name one country in the history of planet earth that spent it's way into prosperity. Hell, just look at FDR. After 2 terms in office and massive government spending the unemployment and stock market hadn't changed. Duh!!

Obama keeps predicting (campaigning?) publicly that bad things will happen unless the stimulus bill is passed right away, without delay. He says don't get stalled on the details. Can you believe this nonsense? The guy sounds like a car salesman! Most of the so called stimulus package doesn't even take effect until 2010 and beyond. How can passing it now possibly have anything more than a limited impact, if any, in 2009?

How about limiting executive pay for companies on the dole for help? This can be debated but in the same press release there was this little tidbit of information: The administration also will propose long-term compensation ideas even for companies that don't receive government assistance, Obama said. Among the ideas will be requiring top executives at financial institutions to hold stock for several years before they can cash out.....  All I can say is, buckle up, we're in for the long road to socialism with this goof-ball as President.

Obama is in way over his head.   He said "there are times for big paydays and profits.   Now is not that time".    So now he decides when folks should make a profit?  Excuse me, how can the economy get better without profit?   Without profit, the company folds and goes out of business and more people get laid off.    This guy sounds like Lenin from the Soviet Unions.

If he decides to cap the salaries of execs receiving TARP funds, then why would he stop there?   There are so many entities that receive govt money.   Who is next?  Anything that the govt spends money on would be subject to caps using this logic.  Scary to ponder...

The stimulus bill is a joke.   Only like 8% would have any stimulative effect, the rest is just a laundry list of spending programs the Dems have wanted to put in for years and haven't been able to.   Pelosi is the architect of this and is shamelessly ramming it home.   Well I hoped the GOP in the senate would have the testicular verility to halt this mess, but we were betrayed by three.

Anyone who says the following and I do hear this: "Obama just started.  Give him a chance.  Maybe the stimulus is what we need".    In my mind, anyone who is so stupid to say that is obviously not paying attention!.    IT is a TRILLION dollars of PORK!!  OMG.   give him a chance?   This is obvious NOT going to WORK.   92% will have NO STIMULATING AFFECT.   IT IS PORK.   If this passes it is already too late!!   Nothing can be reversed!!   And we will saddled with this for generations!   Not only the debt, but the government control of all the stuff in it.   scary scary scary....

The thing that I don't get is Obama seems to be a very shrewd individual. He's gotta know that if this so called stimulus package doesn't work then it's on him since he's the one slamming it home. This can jeopardize his re-election and even worse the mid-term 2010 elections.

He certainly should see how this appears to be nothing more than him carrying Pelosi's laundry with this bill. What's going on here? Rahm Emmanual is also shrewd. How can these guys not see that this is nothing more than pork?

Can it be Hubris?  Do they know and don't care since it will grow government and is several more steps to European style socialism which is what they want?

              OR

Do they really think in their heart of hearts that this is what the country needs and that it somehow will pull us out of the recession? As odd as it sounds I hope it's the former (hubris), because if it’s the latter, then my oh my, we have a total dumb-ass for president. This is very scary indeed. It's worse than a nightmare.
