The problem is that democracy is not freedom. Democracy is
simply majoritarianism, which is inherently incompatible with real freedom. Our founding fathers clearly understood this,
as evidenced not only by our republican constitutional system, but also by their writings in the Federalist Papers and elsewhere.
James Madison cautioned that under a democratic government, “There is nothing to check the inducement to sacrifice the
weaker party or the obnoxious individual.” John Adams argued that democracies merely grant revocable rights to citizens
depending on the whims of the masses, while a republic exists to secure and protect pre-existing rights. Yet how many Americans
know that the word “democracy” is found neither in the Constitution nor the Declaration of Independence, our very
founding documents?
If America is to continue
as a Republic which has made it so great, we have to listen to the words of the great men who created this nation. And after
listening to them, go out in the world and spread the word before the ideals and dreams of these men are destroyed and forgotten!!
"A
democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."by: Thomas Jefferson (U.S. President)
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who
would not."by: Thomas Jefferson (U.S. President)
"Democracy... while it lasts is more bloody than either [aristocracy or monarchy]. Remember, democracy
never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.”
John Adams
"As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy"
Abraham Lincoln
"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb
contesting the vote!" Benjamin Franklin
"We are a Republican Government. Real liberty is never found in despotism or in the extremes of Democracy...
It has been observed that a pure democracy if it were practicable would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved
that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies in which the people themselves deliberated never possessed
one good feature of government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity." Alexander Hamilton, Secretary
of the Treasury to George Washington, an author of the Federalist Papers
"Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible
with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent
in their death." James Madison, 4th President of the United States
"The experience of all former ages had shown that of all human governments, democracy was the most
unstable, fluctuating and short-lived." John Quincy Adams, 6th President of the United States
"Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos."
John Marshall, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, 1801-1835
The List of quotes against Democracy goes on and on but I am
sure you can see how our founding fathers felt about Democracies. This is not to say they didn't agree with democratic
elections by electing officials by majority. They did not believe in changing our Constitution for the majority.
Does it make sense that by doing what the majority wants eventually leads to being ruled always by those with less money taking
from those who are wealthy and there is no end until self destruction of our society! Because the wanting will always want
more! Look at Liberalism today! No moral restrain from taxing for pork barrel projects and welfare programs! I keep hearing
the President say its what the people want so thats why he is creating new Government Welfare Programs. Well President Obama
what about the 58 million people or 46.7% that did not support you?
